European hosting and GDPR compliance
Kynna is hosted on Scaleway in Paris. Surveys, questions, responses and encrypted backups are stored in France and never leave the European Union. The signed Data Processing Agreement and the full sub-processor list are self-service from any account, including the free plan, with no sales call.
Where the data lives
- Surveys, questions and responses: France, Scaleway (Paris).
- Database backups: France, Scaleway Object Storage, encrypted at rest.
- Error monitoring: Germany, Sentry EU region.
- Transactional email: Resend (Germany / United States).
- Payments: Stripe (Ireland / United States) — Kynna never sees your card number.
- AI analysis of open-text answers: OpenAI (United States).
The exception, stated plainly
Kynna's analysis runs on OpenAI's models, hosted in the United States. Open-text answers and the questionnaires you generate are sent there to be summarised, clustered into themes and scored for sentiment. Those calls fall under OpenAI's standard data-processing terms: payloads are not used to train their models, and the transfer relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Nothing else — accounts, response history, backups — leaves the EU.
Self-service
- Read and sign the DPA from any plan.
- See the sub-processor list, what each one receives and where it sits.
- Export everything the account holds, as JSON.
- Delete the account, cascading to surveys, responses and backups.
Respondent anonymity
Answering a Kynna survey requires no account, no name and no email address. Only the answers and an anti-duplicate session marker are recorded. That is what makes the hard surveys possible: employee feedback, exit interviews, anything where an identifiable name changes what people are willing to write.
